Two of a kind

Today I realized its coming up on the 4 year anniversary of my paint geldings untimely death at 7 years and 1 week old. Hard to believe its already been 4 years.

The photo in the title bar is him, rolling on a summer day after a bath (of course). These are 2 other pix I took that day that I always thought were funny. In the photos is his buddy an Arab gelding. They kept mirroring each others poses as they grazed.

Note the identical tail swish, I was just a tad late and the arab put his head up quick!

and the one headed two bodied mutant!

  1. Aw, I'm so sorry about your gelding. :( Can I ask what happened that he passed away so young?

  2. HYPP, tho he never showed any signs until the fall before when a bad abcess set off a couple attacks. He was found in his stall after breakfast one morning the next spring.

I didnt know about the disease when I bought him as a 6 mo. old, several years later I tested him and it came up N/H. I know all about it now!

  4. HYPP is a terrible disease. Not only is it dangerous for the horse, it is also dangerous for the rider if the horse has an attack while being ridden. I am so sorry for your loss. Just heartbreaking.
